Ian has always wanted to serve older generations as they enter a new stage of their life, ever since he took care of his grandparents at a younger age. This has turned into a calling at Miller Retirement Group to continue helping folks as they grow older and more independent.
As marketing coordinator, Ian conveys our message and philosophy to you! He provides customer service to clients and potential clients with the goal of building long-term relationships with our team. He also facilitates seminars and events to provide services and information to the community and potential new clients.
Ian studied creative writing at the University of Kansas, earning his bachelor’s degree in English in 2014, and he uses his creative skills to find solutions to real-world problems.
Ian lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with his spouse, Maddie Phillips, and their two dogs. When he’s out of the office, he stays creative by devoting time to writing poetry and prose, playing his guitar and drawing portraits. He enjoys bike riding and volunteering his time and skills as an ambassador through Heroic Hearts Project, a support organization for veterans’ rights and mental health.
Ian was born in Louisiana before growing up in the Middle East for 16 years (Qatar and Oman) – all while spending summers in Kansas with his grandparents. He says his international upbringing brought him perspective, empathy and a sense of the world, while the Midwestern summers he experienced showed him a caring and neighborly way of being.
